Let's face it--the Sudan is a total bummer. Child soldiers, starvation, and a complete lack of a music scene. How can we save the Sudan to give them a music scene? It's an interconnected problem, and here's 10 ways we can save the Sudan with a burgeoning indie scene.

Don't forget to read this think piece about how the death of Michael Horowitz has impacted us all. Mike really cared about the Sudan.

1. Bringing instruments to make music
Let's face it--when things are silent, we start thinking to much. Let's make some noise. Some beautiful independent noise. Instruments are a perfect stress reliever, but also a way to create something beautiful. It's the first step in creating the Sudan's indie music scene.

2. Opening up a Roth IRA
We're all trying to make money in this crazy world. Let's face it, we'd all like to start building that nest egg. A Roth IRA for the Sudan, and for people in the Sudan can help them in the long run. They may not see the benefits right away, but at the end of the day, they'll love having that non-taxable money due to their income bracket.

3. Donating to Mike.
Mike Horowitz was the first person to ever bring awareness to the indie music scene in the Sudan. Let's face it--the guy was taken too soon, due to his death at the indie band's show.

4. LIVESTRONG bracelets
As humans, we all want to support something. But how do we prove to people that we are being supportive? Bracelets. While LIVESTRONG might be dead, bracelets can raise awareness. At the end of the day, let's face it--sometimes awareness is the only thing we can contribute.

5. Going on a Youth Mission Trip
We're not going to be young forever, which is why it is important to go on a youth mission trip. Let's face it--sometimes being a missionary can make for great FB photo opps. Traveling to the third world is dangerous, but it's all worth it if you can make a difference, not just to people in the third world, but also being young and interacting with social media to raise awareness.

How else can indie music be used to save the Sudan?
